A “Health Detective” on your Side

I absolutely love the “health detective” side of my job - problem solving, finding the imbalances, and putting the pieces back together.

Whilst I have the utmost respect for many GPs and specialists, through no fault of their own, they often operate in the very narrow systems based approach that is our current health system.

Are they helping you understand all of the pieces of your unique health picture?

If it's your thyroid you will be sent to see an endocrinologist, if it's your joints you see a rheumatologist, but what if you have both a thyroid and joint issue? This does not lead to you, the GP or the specialist appreciating all the pieces of your health. Worse again, consider for example, someone with Hashimoto’s, Chronic Fatigue, Type 2 Diabetes, Obesity, Depression, and food addictions. Our current standard medical system does not deal well with all these symptoms as they are multi-system illnesses.

Understanding your whole body rather than independently treating each area is surely important. I do not believe in medicine by organ, I believe in medicine by organism - healthcare for you, your whole person!

I am super passionate about this - your organs do not behave as isolated parts - you are a fine-tuned and miraculous whole body system. A huge part of my job is to educate an ill person and give them the knowledge they need to truly improve their whole health and wellbeing, in the short or long-term. This is the knowledge I believe you are after!

I practice Naturopathic Functional Medicine, and use the Vitae Mosaic system for complex cases. This patient-centred approach helps me examine the whole of you - now and over your lifetime, looking at the underlying issues not just the symptoms!

We consider your symptoms certainly, but we don’t stop there - we look at your layers - your health history, the multiple systems, as well as environmental, lifestyle, dietary and other factors involved - your unique 'mosaic pieces' to create better health and vitality.

We then make a Wellness Plan that will put your whole self back together, despite the fact your symptoms may cover multiple systems. The pieces begin to come together, so that together we can see a way forward. We may use further functional testing if required for your particular puzzle, usually dietary and lifestyle changes, and perhaps supplements to help bring your body back into balance. We work at your pace - every small change is a positive one.

Have a think - Is your whole health being considered by your healthcare team, or would this comprehensive patient-centred approach suit you too? to see how we can work together, Visit: CLINIC SERVICES

Ideally you have a whole healthcare team approach - you being the accountable patient, myself, and ideally your GP, Specialists or other health practitioners, who will work with an integrative approach for the good of you.
