Actions to Address the 7 Health Pillars

This blog addresses what we can do to address concerns we may have in the 7 Health Pillars. We identified these in an earlier post - which you can find here.

On the path to achieving optimal health, it's crucial to address each of the 7 Health Pillars holistically. These pillars form the foundation of well-being and are interconnected, shaping our overall health and vitality. Let's delve into specific actions you can take to nurture each pillar and maintain balance:

Pillar 1: Environmental Influences

Your health is a product of the interplay between genetics and environment. To support your health in this context:

  • Opt for a diet rich in whole, nutrient-dense foods

  • Prioritise organic foods and consider growing your own

  • Stay hydrated with clean water and reduce exposure to toxins

  • Identify and manage stressors, adopting stress reduction techniques

  • Be mindful of your toxic load from diet, environment, and products

  • Address physical trauma and spend time in nature daily

  • Stay active and consider turning off WiFi at night

  • Avoid processed foods, sugars, trans fats, and harmful chemicals

Pillar 2: Immune System & Inflammation

A robust immune system is essential. Take these steps to promote immunity and manage inflammation:

  • Consult your GP for inflammation assessment

  • Address underlying causes instead of relying on anti-inflammatories

  • Evaluate your diet, nutrient status, gut health, exercise, stress, sleep, allergens, infections, and toxins

  • Seek professional support to uncover and address root causes

Pillar 3: Hormones & Neurotransmitters

Maintain hormone and neurotransmitter balance for overall well-being:

  • Understand the key hormone pathways (HPA, HPT, HPG, insulin).

  • Consider nutrient-rich, balanced meals with healthy fats and proteins

  • Prioritise low GI carbs and manage stress effectively

  • Aim for 7-9 hours of quality sleep each night

  • Address hormone imbalances and neurotransmitter regulation

Pillar 4: Gut & Digestive Health

A healthy gut is vital. Here's how to support your digestive system:

  • Consume a whole, organic, plant-rich diet with healthy fats and lean protein

  • Explore food intolerances through testing or elimination diets

  • Mindfully eat, and address infections and dysbiosis

  • Consider digestive enzymes and supportive supplements

  • Prioritise exercise, stress reduction, and quality sleep

Pillar 5: Waste & Detoxification

Support your body's natural detox processes:

  • Stay hydrated and consume a plant-rich, fibre-filled diet

  • Avoid sugars, processed foods, and harmful fats

  • Address nutrient imbalances and exercise regularly

  • Incorporate stress management techniques

  • Engage in activities that promote sweating and lymphatic circulation

Pillar 6: Energy & Mitochondria

Boost your energy production by taking these steps:

  • Opt for nutrient-dense, balanced meals and address nutrient imbalances

  • Address inflammation, hormone balance, and detoxification

  • Exercise regularly to enhance energy production

  • Prioritise sleep and manage stress effectively

Pillar 7: Mind-Body & Body-Mind Effect

Balance your mind and body for holistic well-being:

  • Reflect on the interconnectedness of the previous pillars

  • Adopt relaxation techniques and engage in activities that reduce stress

  • Consume a nutrient-rich diet and address nutrient imbalances

  • Cultivate a sense of purpose and connect with friends, family, and community

  • Spend time in nature, prioritise quality sleep, and create 'me time'
